Within the past 8 years, SK has forged strong bonds with many local Singaporeans, including colleagues whom he met through work at Thye Hua Kwan. He also goes on family outings to places such as Sentosa with fellow parents he got to know at the playground.
The multi-racial culture in Singapore has led to SK learning to appreciate a variety of local Chinese and Malay cuisine. His son’s birth and education in Singapore has also helped with SK’s integration in the country, as his son already seems to be fully localised and even speaks the Chinese language.
SK has been consistently contributing to the community through various avenues. Apart from THK, he also visits the local Mosque and Church near his house to meet people of different religions while helping out as a volunteer at their events. He also helps with the collection and distribution of food at a local family centre and spends time with their beneficiaries at events for children.
He feels that everyone can benefit from racial harmony as people will get the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the different religions as well as traditions through their daily interations.
